Vision

Completely KIDS ensures that our families have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty.

Mission

Completely KIDS educates and empowers KIDS and families to create a safe, healthy, successful and connected community.

In supporting our mission, we assist more than 2,000 KIDS and their families via school, homeless shelter and other partnerships to overcome barriers to their success. Our headquarters at 2566 St. Mary’s Avenue is at the heart of the community we serve. As such, we are better able to understand the challenges our families face, as well as provide them with easier access to our services.

At first glance, it may seem that Completely KIDS does what other social service agencies do, but our work is different.

Completely KIDS serves more than 2,000 KIDS in 17 locations primarily throughout southeast Omaha. This includes public and parochial schools, homeless shelters and the Ronald McDonald House. We also provide services for family members of our KIDS to strengthen their support system.

A high percentage of the children we serve are eligible for free or reduced lunch, an indicator of need. In 2019, the federal poverty level for a family of four was annual income of $25,750. Most of the families we serve fall below this.

Completely KIDS focuses on a holistic approach to meeting the needs of children and families. This is why we provide nutritious meals and mental health services. Our adult classes help parents learn skills to improve the economy and self-sufficiency of the family. With language barriers a reality with many of our parents, Completely KIDS staff serve as necessary conduits to communication with teachers and administration at the schools where our programs reside.

The advantages of our reach

In addition to serving KIDS and families at our main building, CK26, Completely KIDS has an extended reach at public and parochial neighborhood schools, the Ronald McDonald House and homeless shelters. While services for homeless adults abound, the reality is that there are many children living alongside those adults with few resources dedicated to assist them during a highly chaotic and inconsistent time of their lives. Recognizing this, Completely KIDS was the first nonprofit in Omaha to provide youth development programs in homeless shelters.

The benefits of our wide footprint include eliminating transportation barriers, increased time efficiency and the opportunity to forge stronger, cooperative relationships with our partners.

Addressing food insecurity

Completely KIDS was the first nonprofit in the area to offer weekend food. Years ago, we saw a connection between a child’s hunger and his or her success in school. Consequently, we began sending home bags of food with our kids every weekend. Today, volunteers from the community help prepare more than 600 bags of food per week.

Curriculum that facilitates learning

Completely KIDS employs a manager with experience in education and curriculum development. This person works with coordinators at our sites to enhance our offerings and support curriculum needs such as classes and activities that increase literacy, English-as-a-Second Language, practice, strengthening families and improving/stabilizing mental health.

How we are funded

Completely KIDS receives little federal funding and is mostly dependent on grants and contributions. Specifically, we receive funding from individual donors, family and corporate foundations, special events, investment income and United Way.

In accordance with our Core Values, Completely KIDS honors financial stability and commits to using all resources wisely. We have a responsibility to our community and our donors and work hard to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization.
