Our headquarters at 2566 St. Mary’s Avenue is at the heart of the community we serve. As such, we are better able to understand the challenges our families face, as well as remove any potential barriers to our services.
Our History
Completely KIDS has been serving Omaha’s children and families for more than a century. The organization’s history dates back to 1920, when the local Omaha affiliate of a national youth development organization was established. Originally focused on serving girls and young women, the organization expanded in the 1970s and 1980s to welcome boys and broaden its focus to underserved youth through after-school programming in North and South Omaha.
In 2000, the organization partnered with Omaha Public Schools, establishing the school-based model that continues to bring high-quality programs directly to students where they learn and grow. After relocating its headquarters to 2566 St. Mary’s Avenue in 2005, the organization became an independent, locally governed nonprofit in 2011. This transition allowed Completely KIDS to chart its own path while keeping leadership, decision-making, and resources focused entirely on meeting the needs of the Omaha community.
As the needs of Omaha families have evolved, so has Completely KIDS. The expansion of our headquarters, Penny’s Place, in 2019, the opening of the Joyce Mammel Family Center in 2024, and the groundbreaking of the Henry Davis Center in 2026 reflect our continued commitment to growing alongside our community. Expected to open in 2027, the Henry Davis Center will expand access to early childhood education and mental health services as the newest addition to the Completely KIDS campus.
Today, Completely KIDS serves more than 3,400 children and family members annually across 16 program sites, including public and parochial schools, homeless shelters, and the Ronald McDonald House. Through after-school and teen programs, mental health services, family support, adult education, and food security initiatives, we continue to educate and empower children and families while growing to meet the evolving needs of Omaha.
