We never imagined how much Completely KIDS would change our lives.

When we moved to the United States from Guerrero, Mexico, we thought we’d be here just three years — just enough time to earn money and build a home in our small town. But everything changed. We had our kids and started a business. And we stayed. Now, after 25 years of marriage and raising four kids, we’re still working hard and pushing forward — and Completely KIDS has helped us along the way.

Before we found Completely KIDS, our days were full of rushing — between jobs, trying to make ends meet, doing everything we could to take care of our family. Work consumed us, and it meant leaving our kids with babysitters all the time. They were spending more time with them than with us. We were so focused on working, we didn’t always realize what our kids were going through.

Then we found Completely KIDS — and everything changed

It wasn’t just help with childcare. We found a place that welcomed all of us. We started

spending more time together. We began showing up — for our kids and for each other. Family nights, dinner table conversations, school events — things we didn’t do before are now part of our life. We started learning more about our kids and what they like.

Our youngest son, Omar Jr., absolutely loves the afterschool program. Before, he just sat with a screen — now he paints, draws, plays, and tells us all about his day. He looks forward to the summer program. Our daughter Yockza, who once didn’t know what she wanted, now works at Completely KIDS and wants to become a dentist. She helps pick up her little brother so we can go to our evening ESL classes.

Through those classes, we’ve gained confidence. Now we can talk with teachers, doctors, and clients in our business. We’ve learned to read, to write, to speak. We are learning more and more. Our teacher is very patient — she explains and explains again, and we are so thankful for that. The classes are very helpful, not only for our family but for our business too. We want our kids to see that if we can do it, they can too. That motivates us.

Starting our business was something we did to have something of our own. It’s not easy, and we’re not where we want to be yet, but we keep going. We want our kids to have something to fall back on when we are not here anymore. We want stability for them and their future families.

And Omar Jr., their youngest, has blossomed into a joyful, creative child who can’t wait to tell his parents about his day.
