2022 Pinot, Pigs & Pours Exclusive Wine Pre-Sale
Pinot, Pigs & Pours is the premier Pinot Noir-focused wine event in the Midwest, providing a unique opportunity to explore Pinot’s many expressions while at the same time providing essential support for KIDS in our community.
Pinot, Pinot, Pinot.
For the 2022 edition, we will have 24 Pinot Noirs to taste and purchase. A range of styles are on display from all three of the major Pinot Noir growing regions of the West Coast: Oregon, Sonoma and the Central Coast of California. Wineries that have been past favorites like Cloud’s Rest, Domaine Serene, Failla, Fairsing and Paul Hobbs will be poured along with new Pinots to discover from FolkTale (Central Coast), Fullerton (Oregon) and Trione (Sonoma). So many wines to love and take home!
Chardonnays too.
Pinot Noir producing regions are also known for their fabulous Chardonnays. The cooler coastal climates preferred by the Pinot Noir grape produces a style of Chardonnay that is both crisp and savory. This year we will have eight Chards to taste and purchase representing the same three regions: Oregon, Sonoma and the Santa Maria Valley, north of Santa Barbara. Also, we have included a Premier Cru White Burgundy from Chateau de La Cree (co-owned by Domaine Serene). It has been the best-selling Chardonnay at the event the past two years. The 2018 vintage does not disappoint.
Did you say Cabs?
This is a Pinot event, but we also recognize that there are times when a fine California Cabernet Sauvignon is impossible to beat. We have 4 outstanding bottles for purchase. See below for a fuller description of these special wines.
And Spirits.
The “Pours” part of Pinot, Pigs & Pours is a reference to our expanded offering of Bourbons, Ryes and Whiskeys at this year’s event. We have a focus on the ever-growing range of distilleries in the Midwest including three from Nebraska and two from Kansas City. For fun, we also have some award-winning and collectible bottles from Barrell, Black Maple Hill and Stellum to sample and purchase.
More on this year’s Four Cabs:
Cliff Lede – Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Stag’s Leap has been the preferred AVA for many of Napa’s most successful and noteworthy Cab-producers for generations now, and for good reason. A true Bordeaux-style blend, this wine is 76% Cab Sauv, 13% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec, 2% Cab Franc and 100% exceptional! Twenty-one months on French oak, 32% of it new, helps turn this sophisticated, well-crafted wine into your next favorite Napa Cab.
Gandona – Encosta Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Six years of bottle-age have given this wine a chance to mature slightly, the tannins beginning to chain up in such a way as to offer a smoothness to the mouthfeel that only comes with age. Napa-legend Philippe Melka is the winemaker. This age-worthy Pritchard Hill Napa Cab will be even better in another decade if you’re the patient type, but it’s drinking so well right now that we certainly don’t have the audacity to insist that you wait. Drink it now, or drink it later, just be sure you don’t miss out!
Paul Hobbs – Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Paul Hobbs has become a household name in wine over the years and there can be little doubt as to why. The name implies a combination of consistency and quality, a desirable crossroads of experience and craftsmanship. Sourced from the Coombsville AVA on the Napa Valley floor, this wine offers soft tannins, an elegant structure and profound primary fruit flavors ranging from blackberry to cherry and beyond. The wine is approachable and easy to appreciate, a crowd pleaser that will leave you wishing you’d purchased even more bottles.
Trujillo – Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Famed winemaker Michael Trujillo, who learned the craft alongside Napa Valley legend Andre’ Tchelistcheff, sells more of his wine in Nebraska than any other state in the US. Why? We Nebraskans have excellent taste, of course, and this wine is the perfect pairing with some nicely marbled Nebraska beef. Rich, full-bodied, and as complex as a Rubik’s cube, this wine overdelivers like no other. Fair warning: if you only buy one, you’re going to kick yourself later. Enjoy!
Thank you for your generous support of Completely KIDS.
Wine pick up will be at Champions Club on Thursday, September 22. Details will follow with your order confirmation.
